چکیده
Background and Aims: Altering dietary ferrous sulphate (FS) consumption exacerbates a murine model of colitis alters the intestinal microbiome. We investigated impact oral ferric maltol (FM) FS on mice with dextran sodium (DSS) induced colitis, microbiome patients iron deficiency. Methods: Mice had acute induced, 2% DSS for 5 days, followed by water. During this period, groups were fed standard chow (200 ppm iron, SC, n = 8), or SC 200ppm supplementation (n 16, FSS), 200 FM FMS). Clinical, pathological assessments compared at days 1 10. Fecal bacterial gDNA was extracted assessed sequencing. Statistical inferences made using MacQIIME. Principal Coordinates Analysis used to visualize beta-diversity cluster analysis. Ten IDA treated FS, six inactive inflammatory bowel disease received FM, supplements four weeks: pre- mid-treatment fecal samples collected: (see above). Results: In mice, after treatment, there decrease in many genera FSS groups: Lactobacillales increased that FMS. humans, treatment led an increase five genera, but not associated any measurable change. The severity DSS-induced greater than Conclusions: This study demonstrates differential unique influences microbiota. These differences might contribute different side effects these preparations.

Ferrous sulphate does not directly affect pteroylmonoglutamic acid absorption in rats.
A variety of compounds which bind to Fe have substantial reductions in absorption when co-administered with Fe compounds. The binding of both Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions to pteroylmonoglutamic acid and the pteroylmonoglutamate dianion was examined in vitro. In dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) alone, pteroylmonoglutamate formed a 2:1 (pteroylmonoglutamate:Fe3+ ion) complex. However, in DMSO-aqueous Bis-Tris buf...

BACKGROUND Severing a limited number of second-order chordae to the anterior leaflet can improve ischemic mitral regurgitation (MR). Some concerns have been raised regarding possible influence on regional and global left ventricle (LV) function. We evaluated changes in cardiac function in 5 normal sheep with cutting of pre-instrumented chords in the beating heart to maintain constant load. ME...
متن کاملDoes oral contraceptive-induced reduction in free testosterone adversely affect the sexuality or mood of women?
The aim of this study was to examine whether changes in plasma androgen levels (total testosterone (T), free testosterone (FT), and dehydro-epiandrosterone-sulfate (DHEA-S)) induced by oral contraceptive (OC) use were related to changes in sexual interest or response or in mood. Sixty-one women provided blood samples and were assessed, using interviews and standardized questionnaires, prior to ...
متن کاملCannula implantation into the lateral ventricle does not adversely affect recognition or spatial working memory
Indwelling cannulas are often used to deliver pharmacological agents into the lateral ventricles of the brain to study their effects on memory and learning, yet little is known about the possible adverse effects of the cannulation itself. In this study, the effect of implanting an indwelling cannula into the right lateral ventricle was examined with respect to cognitive function and tissue dama...
متن کاملHeparin priming of EUS-FNA needles does not adversely affect tissue cytology or immunohistochemical staining
Background and study aims Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) or biopsy (FNB) is an indispensable diagnostic tool. Improvements in needling technique have led to increasing tissue yields. Blood clogging of the needle can cause difficulties with specimen handling and stylet passage, which improves when the needle is primed with heparin before use. However, the effect...
